| Hello! I am 39 years old and from Elk Grove Village, IL (12 miles west of Chicago). Though my name is Italian, I am only 25%. The other 75% are Korean, Japanese and Slovakian. I am what America is all about. I hold degrees in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, and currently working on a Software Engineering degree. My occupation is programmer in the Telecom industry. My favorite thing to do is meditation. It's the only way to find out how one works! |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
| There has to be extraterrestrial life somewhere in the Universe. We can not be the only ones out there. Also, why does extraterrestrial life have to exist in this reality? They may live in an entirely different dimension with different physical laws. Heck, atoms could be infinitessimal Universes with life within. No one will ever know. I believe SETI@home is a brave project, but I doubt that we'll find anything in our lifetimes. Why is it that a certain frequency range is only observed? What if aliens used the terahertz range or better yet, the nanohertz range? One can not assume that aliens use the same technology as we Earthlings. It would be like trying to call that one, lone person on an island with a possibility of 10 billion telephone numbers to dial. Sure, maybe I'll get lucky, but then again, that person may not be home when I do get lucky. On a happier note, my dual-processor machines are getting an excellent workout! Ciao! |
