Personal background
I'm a 22-year-old planetary science undergrad currently attending the University of Wyoming. I'm currently the Chair of the Historic Correlation Program at the Institute of Temporal Dynamics, a Las Vegas-based non-profit corporate research institute.
(...SHAMELESS PLUG: We're researching lunar/terrestrial crater correlations and atmospheric biofiltration systems... but grants for materials/equipment is sparse -- tax-deductible donations welcome!! Contact: timescientists@hotmail.com for more info...)

Let's see... I'm a freelance jazz musician in my spare time, I'm an aspiring author, and I go spelunking when at all possible. Oh, and I can't wait to get my degree and move out of li'l Laramie. Coming up here and getting away from the smog was nice, but the dismal cultural scene is... well, that's what it is. Dismal.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I indeed believe extraterestrial life exists. The chemical predisposition of elements to form organic compounds makes it extremely likely that self-sustaining chemical processes, and eventually life, will arise in any environment which provides a complex molecule resourse base, an energy supply, and a solvent - H20 works great, but life doesn't necessarily have to be water-based.

I run SETI@home because I'd like to say I was a part of the process of humanity collectivly taking its head out of the sand and realizing that life in the universe is larger, physically and philosophically, than a 12,000-kilometer sphere.

Well, that, and it looks really cool when it's running on your desk.
