Personal background
Well I hope to one day be the one that finds the signal... 1 in a 3.5 million.

Anyway, free time on the computer is always better spent doing something as well as consuming electricity.....

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes, why should we think we are all alone?
We probably won't find it for at least 100 years (come on AMD, quicker CPUs)
The Dangers are that we will identify ourselves as a target to be ?
The benefits are that we meet a race willing to share technology, culture and experiences, we get into space a lot quicker and further, get medical help and improve the life of all Earth citizens in the process.

2. Yes, ultimately we need to meet others and learn from them.. If they are good!
The information should be clear to indicate what we are, how we live but not too much technical information initially.

3. Give the PC something do, apart from having to reboot when windoze crashes!!
SETI is an outward looking project, and i feel it should be funded more.
Not just to search for ET, but to search for meteors, asteriods etc... anything that can and probably will kill us off eventually.

Thanx
