Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think Extraterrestrial exists out there. It is just too arrogant on our part to assume that we are the only ones lucky enough in the universe to have all that we have and to have evloved to this extent. Maybe life out there is not intelligent or maybe it is. Instead of guessing the answer I think an effort such as SETI which is driven by positive thinking that there might be life out there is the best way to find out.
I run SETI@home because I want to help this effort and besides my PCs are not being used 24/7. I just run em 24/7 and let SETI@home crunch the work units. I am facinated by anything to do with space and beyond not to forget anything to do with our own beautiful world. I think distributed computing is a brilliant move to help solve this problem and it lets a whole lot of people get involved and contribute in a positive way, however large or small it may be.
