Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe extraterrestrial life exists. I think the discovery will be made through a program such as SETI. I don't believe advanced life forms have visited the solar system (UFO's), but I think it is possible that primitive life has developed on other planets, e.g. Mars. Transmitting a beacon to the vicinity of the closest stars is a good idea. One major benefit of making contact with advanced beings is that they will have lived through all the social/racial/political/religious problems we struggle
with and can give us some insight on how to solve them.

I enjoy contributing to this program but I am puzzled by the comparatively excessive amount of time it takes my computer to process a work unit. I am using a 500 megaherz computer and it is averaging 69 hours per unit. Currently, it is taking as much as 100 hours per unit. I wonder if I have the program installed properly.
