Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I do think that life exists elsewhere. I believe it will be discovered as a result of advances in listening technology. I do not however believe a "face-to-face" visit with intelligent alien life will be possible until interstellar travel is perfected in the distant future. If we establish a form of "radio" contact with an advanced form of alien life, it may accel our efforts in technology so we can decode, transmit and understand each other. The danger is when we contact a lesser developed form of alien life or a "hostile" form of alien life. We may discover ourselves being listed on an interstellar food chain in an unfavorable position.

2. Yes and No, we should not send a beacon for others to find unless we are able to defend ourselves in space. Our ships are slow and flimsy and have no weapons or people with tactical experience fighting off an interstellar invasion. If we do send a message it should be that we are dangerous and should be avoided. I think we should "lay low" and only listen.

3. I have been running the program since the project started and believe it it important to detect any form of intelligent life in the universe. I would be honored if one of my data units turned over the appropiate spikes. I fully endorse the project and believe it should be an on-going human endevour.
