Personal background
I live in Toronto with my family. I feel good participating in this project because it means taking an active part in moving humans forward in our evolution. It seems like a better idea than sitting in a church a tithing your money to some guy in a polyester suit.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I found out about the project through Talk TV a sort of 6 hour a day marathon talk show that is available in Canada.

I think any project that actualy seeks to improve our knowledge in a concrete way is worthwhile.

I feel that looking for ETI is good for the reasons I stated earlier. I think we should be carefull in requesting contact with other forms of life if we find them. If they can manage to visit us they could probably do what ever they want with us once they got here. Not that I think they would be a threat but I think that we are better off educating ourseleves as much as possible passively before exposing ourselves to something that would have to be far more advanced than us.
