Personal background
Hi,

I'm from Montreal, Canada and I'm 37 years old.

I work for a printing company and have been in the business for the last 15 years.
I'm on an iMac at home and roleplaying games are one of my favorite activites on that computer.
Downloading music is another, and as soon as I can get my hands on a DVD burner, guess what
else I'll be downloading off the net.... *hehehehe*.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
To answer the above mentioned questions :

[pre]
1) Yes, I do belive there is life out there. I would not be here otherwise.
To quote the movie "Contact". "If we're alone, it's an awful waste of space".
How will humans discover it ? Well with the numerous UFO sitings over the years, I basically think we've already discovered it.
I believe that with time and the progress of technology, we might even be able to find out where they're from...
Dangers ? Religion wise, it would chatter a great many myths for one, and although the world seems to have taken a step away
from religion altogether, it would I believe still leave a great many of us with questions. "If God created man in his image, who created
these aliens ? Was it God ? Do they look like us and if not, then which image is the image of God ?"... that kind of questioning can
pretty much bring Faith down to it's knees.
Benefits ? The drive to find this new life will be at the source of most of the advances in science and technology. There's one huge benefit to start !

2) I think transmitting a beacon is a great idea. The information it would contain should be basically the same thing placed in the Voyager Probe.

3) I run Seti@Home because I believe in what they are doing. I'm not only saving my screen, but my computer is analysing data, and that
makes me part of the search effort.. something someone like me would never get to do otherwise.
