Profile: Brian E Haines

Personal background
Programmer with Lockheed Martin EIS. I do everything from hardcore assembly
to fluffy, pretty web pages. My hobies include rebuilding computers for
friends and family, and taking WAY too many pictures of my family. Well,
I take too many pictures of my daughter, the other pictures are when people
get between me and her. :)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
#1A: *shrug* If space is infinite, and there is an infinite
number of planets, and a finite number of those DO contain life(X), then the
percentage of planets to life forms is X/infinity. Which is 0, or as close to
it as you can get. So, if the universe is 0% populated, then there is no
population, QED. Now that we explained that life does not exist anywhere
in this universe, Yes, I believe there might be other life forms.
(That was a joke son, and a complete misquote of Douglas Adams)
1B: When they either come to conquer us, or (More likely) to trade with us.
1C: Well, as an employee of the defense industry, it would mean more work
for me.

2A: Ahhmmm, I'm sure someone has already said it, but we've been sending
a steady stream of 'beacons' since the 50's. How would other life forms deal
with 20 years of the Simpsons. :)
2B: I don't really think we need to worry about what to send, by the time we
see them or they see us they will know all about us.

3A: I run the seti client for giggles. I hope we find something, it will
make my stocks go up. :
