| I'm a thiry-two year old that currently resides in both Maryland and Pennsylvania. I work in the construction field as management but I am currently seeking to move over into the computer networking field. I enjoy outdoor activities, learning, anything computer related, and science in general. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
| I don't know how anyone who looks at the stars and trys to take in the vastness that is our universe can have the audacity to believe that we are the only "lifeforms" out there. I'm no prophet but I think projects like SETI@HOME will be the first contact we have with any type of alien race. Although this will be just the beginning of a world of new thought and ideas it is a critical beginning. Unfortunately not every person desires this contact and some even fear the possible discovery. It is often viewed as the unraveling of faith and religion by many. I however believe that it would no way conflict with any institution. Hopefully it will inspire a new era of thought and invention that will propel the human race into the exploration of space outside our little solar system. We are already a beacon to anyone out there. We broadast tons of media into space as well as several probes that could on a small chance be discovered. I run SETI in the hopes that this inevitable "first contact" may be discovered. So that as a race we can begin our exploration and find worlds capable of supporting the human race. After all the earth will not last forever will it? |
