Profile: J D WRITER

Personal background
I live in Ocean Shores, Washington surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, a relatively large inland bay to the east and the rest of the Pacific to the west. A native Califronian, born in Los Angeles, way back in the late 30's of the past century. Being of a curious nature I have always enjoyed all things scientific, particularily astronomy and so joined the Planetary Society very early on which led to SETI@HOME. Suffice it to say that my interests and hobbies are far to numerous to list in a few words, during the course of my nearly 70 revolutions of star SOL, there is little I have not investigated in some fashion or another. My friends call me "duff" short for Duffy, my middle name by way of my paternal grandmother.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home to keep my computer from being idle :) Participating in the project is my way of sharing resources with others, it can't hurt. I'm one of those silly romantics who quite naively think we might make "contact" eventually with something, somewhere, sometime. However, a coversation with our nearest possible neighbor, at light speed, is going to be lengthy in the extreme even if it's brief.
