Personal background |
Currently living in Windsor (UK) with parents (one of whom complains about the noise my PC's make :). This should change as and when I get a job.
I have jut obtained a degree (2:1) in Physics from Imperial College, London and so have no occupation (other that crunching and getting my crunching up to speed:)
If I didn't list SETI@Home as a primary hobby I would be lying, trying to keep up with the s.a.s and a.s.s newsgroups also features fairly high on the list. Closes down with swimming, cycling and anything else I fancy at the time.
I also happen to run the website for Dawnlink Ltd. This allows me to have a nice SETI site built in. We build computers for people while not crunching.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
1) Don't know. Don't knowwhen but by looking!
Benefits & Dangers: - Unbelievable!
2) Yes. Something unmistakeable (Probably a matheatical sequence. It has to be an infinite, non repeating sequence which could not be natural.)
3) I think SETI is more useful than a system idle loop (Oh, yes and I'm addicted too). I think the team at berkeley do a fantastic job, I think the idea was great and it has been well implemented (and it was the first such major DC project so I stick with it).
Suggestions: Default a 2(or few) unit cache in the GUI (maybe a 24 hour cache?)
Keep going! Great work. |
