Profile: Kat

Personal background
I'm originally from Boulder, Colorado, born there in 1948. You can do the math.
My college studies focused mainly on music, dance and theater, though I've always had a keen interest in science, thanks to a fabulous Fifth Grade teacher.
I spent fifteen years, managing a community recycling program, then spent three years, teaching English in China and then South Korea.
My interest in the SETI program is firmly rooted in me. I have a deep respect for Carl Sagan's work, both as a scientist and as a personality who made the science of space accessible to the average citizen.
As a planetary citizen, I believe we all owe Carl a debt of gratitude for paving the way towards nuclear disarmament. He got through to Gorbachev, while Reagen talked about bombing "the evil empire."
My hobbies include birdwatching, music, singing. On the side, I write children's books, poetry, short stories, and mysteries.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Being able to let my computer process data from SETI makes me feel as if I'm contributing a small part to a very large task, one which I believe in.
