Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
For one, I am not sure if extraterrestrial life exists- I only believe that it will be a traged if we do not find them for lack of trying.

I also believe SETI@home is not only a noble project itself, it is setting phenomenal precedent for future distributed projects. The future is definitely bright.

Finally, if the human race is to send out a message, importance should not be of content, but of the type of signal. That is, the signal should be such that an alien species of any level of technological development- and even one that has advanced in a way completely different from ours (which may be the case)- should be able to recognize it for what it is.
