Greetings !
My name's Keith and I live in a small town named Trois-Rivieres, located down in the middle of the province of Quebec, Canada. Nearly all my scholarship was done right here in this town. Of course I traveled elsewhere in the world. I went nearly a year when I was young in downunder Autralia. I made several trip to the United States on long holiday to better my world knowledge. Being inquisitive in nature, I could not fathom to stay in one place for too long a time. After school will be out (and reach my goals...:) I will be going elsewhere in the world to work. I am currently preparing doctoral degree in Neurobiology next autumn. So 3 more years of study and I'll be going far from home... Which bring the subject of doing something special at home : Looking for E.T. somewhere in the deep space above !! I actually tumbled on this site when I was looking through Berkeley Site and found the project quite interesting. So started the whole case of accumulating completed units, and the case of boasting friends do the same in the one throw... For the competitive part at first, but it went far beyond that soon after the initial 50 units deadline... |

As an open-minded scientist, it is almost impossible that I could envision known space as totally devoided of life (save our own, of course...:). Maybe the E.T. are not linving in the same dimensions as we (or on the same scale), or on the same energy level (uv-vis spectrum), but I cannot be convinced that we are alone. TVs and reporter are not necessary liars, but they tend to "enhance" public opinion and told tales... So I firmly believe that "we are not alone", as the x-files put it... Is there a danger ? Not... Because humans could see things in the sky for too much time to get invaded so suddenly "Ã la Independance Day". If they were to enslave us, they'd be done by now...
As for a beacon... How could we possibly reduce our thinking to send message to peoples who communicate by unknown means ?? Do they have ears, eyes (in the visible spectrum, that is) or mouth to comunicate ?? Do they communicate via a more intense mean, like light-base signals ? Or x-ray energy emission to talk to loved ones ??? It is my personnal view that they will very unlikely communicate in means similar to ours, or even remotely similar to ours... So don't bother... They will find us (if they haven't already...) or we will stumble on them sometime...
I run the program for the helping part, not the "I want to see an alien" part. Since my CPU's time is not as used as those in the core of the SETI project, I gladly help a fellow scientist so that he reaches his/her goals... |
