Personal background
I'm a 33 yo Canadian, I manage a townhouse complex and in my spare time my partner and I have a small web-hosting set-up. In a previous life I had my own network consulting/designing business but got out just before the nervous breakdown was complete! Sure being a network tech was more lucrative but... : )
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that it would be remarkably "humano-centric" to think that there would not be other intelligent life in the universe. In a nearly infinite universe, mathematically there simply MUST be other intelligence. If other intelligence(s) have found Earth already, would they really try to make contact? Just look at how efficient we are at eliminating other species (and each other) that we share this planet with. Kinda sad but the facts are there. I hope that extra-terrestrial intelligence soon makes contact with us lowly human beings, maybe that would be fundamentally big enough to make the human race raise up it's head from the mud and petty bickering and finally grow up. That's my hope anyway.
