| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I believe that extraterrestrial life must exist. How can it not? We can not be the only intelligent life form there is. I would like to meet an ET. I would love to have the opportunity to communicate with one -- I have many questions. When and how will we discover these other life forms I don't know. I would hope it's during my lifetime. I think the benefits would be many. I don't believe that there are evil life forms wanting to take over the planet (we are doing a good job of it on our own) -- if there were hostile beings wouldn't they have tried something by now? I believe that they may be afraid of us if anything. I like to believe that we are all good but although we are good we do terrible things to each other in the name religion, country, preferences... The danger of such a discovery? There will be someone that will want to get rich by it, someone that will want to dissect it, someone that will want to freak us out by it. Maybe once we learn to really care about each other regardless of race, color, religion, sex... then we will be ready to meet another form of life.
