Profile: Ben

Personal background
I'm Ben, from the UK, about 50 miles from Gatwick & 10 miles south of London....
I'm 31 years old & work as a draughtsman on CAD software in the petrochemicals industry. I hadn't read a book since school then when I was about 23 or so my girlfriend brought me 'Cosmos' by Carl Sagan & my life was changed....the man was a genius & taught me more in the few days it took to devour the book then all my teachers had managed to do in my time in school...I read a lot now & am into A C Clarke, Issac Asimov, Ben Bova, Kim Stanley Robinson Stephen Baxter & more SF authors as well as reading a bit about philosophy & cosmology...my life is so much more full thanks to Carl Sagan. Recently thinking more about non-violence and have become vegan (I was vegetarian for 15 years)(did anyone see k-pax - good vegan film) and feel this has to be the way forward.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
We can't really have all this to ourselves....can we? We're so centered on ourselves & yet we KNOW in our hearts that we're not so important....I think it's vital for our species to expand and to obtain proof of other life - intelligent or not, it'll make all the difference
