Personal background |
I'm a programmer for Recognition Research Inc. We create systems for clients interested in automating their claim form processing. Our main office is located in Blacksburg, Virginia. Sound familiar? It's the home of Virginia Tech for you football fans. Go Hokies!
My wife and I moved down here about 4 years ago to get away from the hectic nature of living in the DC area. Blacksburg is a beautiful town of 12,500 permanent residents and somewhere over 25,000 students. Which means the summers and winter breaks are a great time to be in town.
One short (!) year ago we had a little girl whom we named Fiona. She is, of course, the cutest thing this side of the Teletubbies. If you're so inclined, there's a ton of pictures of her located at:

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I do believe that extraterrestrial life exists. I think it would be foolish to think that NO form of life exists somewhere else. Now, does intelligent, "contactable" life exist somewhere else? That I'm not sure about. A life-form that has the ability to communicate with us could be so far away that the next ice age will come by before we get a chance to even know they exist. I do believe, however, that within the next 50 years we will find some kind of extraterrestrial life, intelligent (by our standards) or not.
I run the SETI project because I love having toys on my computer. I get all the cool stuff I can. And I love supporting such a great idea as a massively distributed processor like this. |
