Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1.Yeah, I think there is life out there, but I think we must resign ourselves to the fact that it probably won't be in our lifetime (although the likelihood is greater than ever before it don't add up to much in the greater scheme of things). We'll probably discover it through just this type of programme, at the very moment that interest levels have waned so far that there are only 10 users left and the exercise is about to be called off. The dangers are that we'll be colonised, exploited and oppressed and the main benefit of such an experience will be that as human earthlings we'll at last recognise our simlarities and not focus on our differences.

2. We might want to re-think the strategy of broadcasting our location, mineral and other resources to all and sundry, but it's probably too late for that. Let's just hope that the right "people?" get the message first.

3.My interest in SETIathome is a part of my quest to understand life, the universe and things (now more confused than ever).
