I always want to work for science but my fate have made me an economist! (What a disappointment!)

Great soviet scientist Iosiv Samuilovich Shcklovskiy study the question of relation fact of extraterrestial life existense and future of our own civilization and profe that this two are tighltly connected. The facts can help us in answering of many questions:
Is the life once appeared have to grown to higly developed civilization?
Is the progress of civilizations unbounded at time or it is limited by some catastrophes?
