Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes, I think there is extraterrestrial life. As they say in "Contact": "It would be an awfull waste of space" otherwise.
I also hope that the possible discovery of another civilization would
open peoples' eyes and help them to better understand that we are
one mankind. For too long have we been divided by nations. The technological
advancements that could be the results of such contact are also truly immense.
2. Yes, we should send a signal. But only if a majority of this planet's population think so.
3. I have been a SETI@home member since August 1999 and I must say that I am very impressed about the project this far. The idea, that people from all around the world, join together for a search of this magnitude is something I find promissing for the future.
