Personal background
I am a Line Service Tech. for a fractional ownership corporate air travel company, out of a small County Airport in Ohio and I love working with all the different types of aircraft. It's great to watch them take off into the night sky heading towards the moon and stars. Reminds me that we are but a small dot in this giant universe. It's a chilling and some what comforting thought all at the same time. Married with two furry children (cat and dog), 24, practicing pagan.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes, I do think that extraterrestrial life does exist. I have no idea if it is a higher or lower life form than us, but I sure hope its higher. I believe that the human race is extremely egotistical when it comes to intelligence. With the advances in technology within the last hundred years or so, I would hope that we would be able to prove the existance of ETs before 2100. That may scare a lot of our species, you know, the whole "I hate what I don't understand" syndrome. Maybe that'll be enough to wake the planet up.

2. A beacon would be a good thing in my opinion. Why not? It would be just like a freeway sign in the middle of nowhere guiding you to the interplanetary gas station *grin*. About what information that beacon should contain, I have no idea. Maybe "Eat At Joes"!

3. I started running SETI@home because I've always wanted to be able to "discover" something. Maybe this way I can say I helped find extraterrestrial life. I think setting it up so that millions of people could help was a great idea. Many hands make light work, so to speak. One suggestion that I would have for the SETI@home project would be to have a competition between individual users. Whomever has the most submitted results in one month could win one of those really nifty, really expensive windbreaker jackets.
