Personal background
Well, there's not much to tell about me. I'm currently finishing up my freshman year at Purdue University, in Computer Science. I'm an out of state student from Michigan. I have a wonderful girlfriend back home, that I love very much. I'm looking forward to the end of this school year, and to going back home. You never realize how much you'll miss something until it's so far away.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
If extraterrestrial life didn't exist, it would be a pretty horrid waste of space. I just hope that if/when we discover it exists, that we will try to coexist, instead of destroying it, because we don't understand it. Just because it's different doesn't mean that it's a threat to our existance. I'm not really sure if we should transmit a beacon for others to find, since a beacon can't interact with other civilizations. I think that there's just too much room for misinterpretation there. I started running SETI@home a while back, after my dad showed me it. I had been running another app for a cryptographic search for quite a while before I heard about SETI@home. I only recently got back into SETI@home, and plan to keep it running on the machine that I use the most.
