Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Empty! Well I guess that is what all of this is all about, deciding if the Universe has any form of intelligence that we can communicate with. I was told recently that the density of matter in the Universe approximates to that of a snow flake in a volume the same size as the Earth - and that's all the matter, let alone the life! So, in some ways there is not much out there, but given the hugeness (close to infiniteness) of the Universe, there is plenty to look at, and I find it all completely captivating.

However, I tend to think that if we come across intelligent life of another form, it is more likely to be like the psychadelic experiences in '2001 a Space Odysey' than the meet the aliens experiences in movies like 'ET', 'Contact', 'Close Encounters' etc. ... Something completely beyond our comprehension, unlike any experience we have ever had before. An experience for which we do not yet have a language, and for which we will have to invent one to describe it.

I am keen to find out...
