Personal background
I'm currently a United States Sailor serving in Norfolk Virginia. I heard about SETI@home over three years ago and finally found it online. I have 2 and 1/2 years left in the Navy before I go back to college. Running SETI@home has become a new hobby of mine that I plan on staying with for as long as I have the internet.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I personally think that anyone who does not believe that extraterrestrial life exists should think more about it. How in this entire universe we could be alone is quite beyond me. Somewhere some alien species is thinking the same thing.

I beacon that transmits to the galaxy could be good or bad. We will never know until it is returned to us. I believe that we could make contact with a benevolent alien species, or we could be singled out by a destructive one. Personally I do not think we should try to contact any alien species without first being able to make starships. Without a means to meet any threat on their own terms we would be easially destroyed.

I run SETI@home hoping that maby I can assist in the discovery of an attempt of an alien race's communication to our planet or any aliens attempting to hear. Personally I would like to see what can only be described currently in Science Fiction come to life before our very eyes.
