Personal background
Walter Kim Perko
Born December 8, 1950 in a hospital a few miles up river from Pig's Eye Landing in Minnesota

Attended Motley Grammer School, Marcy Elementary School, John Marshall High School and the University of Minnesota before joining the United States Navy in 1968 as an Avionics Fire Control Technician.

Walt completed his U.S. Navy tour of duty after four years active (CLASSIFIED) duty including exposure to California, Tennesee, Viet Nam and Korea.

Upon returning to Minnesota after his Naval tour Walt then continued his education in computer sciences and aeronautics at the University of Minnesota receiving an Associates Degree in Computer Science and a Commercial/Instrument Pilots License.

After completing his education Walt worked for MedGeneral then Control Data Corporation for a few years. Walt then contracted for air freight and aerial photography then moved to California to work for Singer/Link Corp. at the NASA AMES Research Center. After completing a 1-year contract Walt moved to a compnay named MultiMetrics. Next came more flight training for Boeing 747 at WAG (World Aviation Group) at the "Flying Tigers" Training Center LA International Airport 1986. Although Walt had completed his Boeing 727 basic ground school training and completed the FAA testing his flying career was not going well ... and so moved back to computer and network support his other expertise.

Working as a Federal Contractor to: MSCPAC, USNPUC, DOJ, and moving back to the civilian workplace at Wells Fargo Bank.

After being fed-up with lying 'n cheating 'n backstabbing at work all the time Walt decided to take a long vacation from the corporate world and moved to rural Hawai'i where he pursued his creative arts while living on his 2-acre compound of gardens to raises chickens and geese for eggs and his long-time pet Cockatiels (some nearly 20-years old by then). Walt is currently residing in Tucson, Arizona.

In the late 1970's Walt was an active member of the International Aerobatics Club Chapter #78 "the Minnesota Cloud Dancers" including judging and chairing regional IAC sanctioned Aerobatic contests.

In 1990 Walt began writing "This is America" completing the song and lyrics in 1991.

BTW, the song "I Gotta Get Me Some" is on the Gold CD that flew on the Huygens mission to the Saturn moon Titan.

"I Gotta Get Me Some" . . . by Walt Perko

It's been a looooooong time since I got me some.
It's been a looooooooooooong time I ain't had none.
It's been a looooooooooooong time I'm going to buy me some,
of that Juicy Fruit, Juicy Fruit, Juicy Fruit chewing gum.

My most recent activies are with robotics. Developing a new system combining both autonomous navigation and remote control for a home gaming system. As a part of this project I've created; "OPEC of the West". OPEC = Old Pueblo Engineering Center that "the Old Pueblo" being a name for Tucson, Arizona where I was living when I decided to start the company.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As for the SETI project, I believe that if I am helping I am helping our evolution of mankind.

There ought to be a basic "Kit" for those who want to setup their own SETI radio telescope using old satellite antennas ... those old 12' to 18' dishes lying around unused all over the world ...

Seems it would only need a receiver with a PC connection and software as a guide.
