Personal background

Born in the year 1971, under the Chinese Astrological sign of the Pig.

Not that I am one!

I come from a land where chewing gum (with the exception of the anti-smoking gum)is banned and you can get a fine for not flushing public toilets.

Well, there are better things to be mentioned though, like the HUGE variety of FOOD you can find here, all day and all night, 24/7. Another being a mall, catered for computer nerds, flooded with all things PC, hundreds of shops selling parts, components, software, hardware, you name it, they have it! All at dirt cheap prices because of the aggressive price wars waged there, day after day.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

Is ET out there? I think so, but we might not be listening to them with the right instruments. For example, we could be trying to detect them with "matter" instruments, but they instead could be transmitting or emitting "anti-matter" signatures.

Astronomy has always been a closet interest of mine, ever since my folks bought a really BIG (seemed like that then) picturebook of the space program when I was a kid. So, when I stumbled upon SETI@home surfing around the net, I was, firstly, hugely impressed with the concept of shared computing over the net, and secondly, glad to help with something that had always remained close to my heart.

I wish that someday, SETI would be able to launch a few listening satellites beyond the range of the radio disturbances generated by earth that effect the signal quality. How do we do that? Here's a crazy idea. With more countries developing a space program, the costs for shooting something up to space will definetely become more economical. And when the time is right, hold a fund raiser for a period of say, a month, where each user pledges a penny or so for every work unit (tax deductible, of course). With such a strong SETI population, I'm sure there will be those who will rise to the call.
