Personal background
I am a Linux user, i code perl, java, tcl and a tiny bit of C, i spend most of my time with the love of my life vicki, (we have a photo on my homepage) she's great, she gives me the courage and strength to better myself and to work for a better world.

if everyone was as kind as her world peace wouldnt be such a distant wish for everyone.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Extraterrestrial life, if the universe is infinate then there are infinate possibilites, so there must be life elsewhere, but the universe is so mind bogglingy large that one hell of alot of possibilites exist, i personally think life exists somewhere other than earth.

I feel the first non earth life we will discover will be simple organisms, maybe to be found on mars or remains of them, intelegent life, well thats different entirely,

It would have to be sufficiantly intelegent to find the means to travel space, technology progresses (from our experiences) in two ways, through war or through co-operation. so whoever gets here first will have had thier technology fueled by one or both of these, we just have to hope when someone turns up that they are bored of blowing up stuff and want to co-operate.

Our biggest problem is if we screw it up, greed or jeaolsy are very human things, what if we steal from them, what then.
