Personal background |
Happily married male, t1, stuck on the East Coast, Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Chemistry).
Computers have been part of my life since graduate school. I'm running SETI@home and Einstein@ on 3 PCs at the house. All are home-built. The fastest is running an Intel Core i7-960 Bloomfield 3.2GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor on an ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with 12 GB of RAM and 64 bit Windows 7 Pro. Next in line is a home-built system with an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU (Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz) and 4 GB RAM on an ASUS P5Q Motherboard running Windows 7. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Religion and other mind-restraining philosophies aside, it is arrogant of humanity to believe we are the only ones in a universe where the sheer numbers of possibilities are staggering.
Unfortunately, I believe that if an alien race were to land tomorrow, we would shoot them.
The thought for the day: "Remember, stupidity runs in herds."
I run SETI@home at home. It is nice to use the PC for something useful other than my professional work, paying bills and 'net surfing. |
