Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think SETI@home is great! If for no other reason, than to provide an opportunity for "the common folk" to get more involved in space science. The probability of finding life elsewhere in the galaxy is 1--we will not stop looking until we do find it.

The best way to seek out life in the universe is via improved technology in space-based telescopes. Our target should be extra-solar planetary systems with planets capable of supporting transplanted life from Earth. Someday, we will be able to travel that far.

I run SETI@ home because my computer has no life.
