Personal background
Hi, I am a 50 years old male type of person, born and living in the Kingdom of Denmark. I don't have any formal education, but I have always been fascinated by Science and Technology, probably due to one of my School-teachers, who introduced me to the weird and wonderful world of Science-Fiction. My Hobbies are: Litterature (S-F in particular), Music (I used to be a "Roadie" and Sond-Man for local Bands), Films, Computers (I love Programming), and generally Having a Good Time. Oh, by the way, I really enjoy watching TV programmes like Discovery, Animal Planet and National Geographic.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Re 1.: Of course there is Life elsewhere in the Universe. I do not, however,
think that Mankind will make Contact with ETI's any time soon, but We
should certainly make every concievable effort, though. As to Benefits
and Daangers, I think We should consider past instances in Our own
History, where a more technologically advanced culture have encountered
a less advanced one, whereby the less evolved culæture inevitably have
been crushed or assimilated by a combination of Military, Religious, and
Commercial Forces. It is therefore quite possible that Mankind might
suffer a similar Fate, should We encounter a sufficiently advanced Space-
Faring culture. - - But then again, perhaps We deserve it!!!?

Re 2.: In actual fact, We have already been doing so, ever since Marconi
invented his first transmitter, and the message has been to the effect,
that We are an extremely Warlike species. Hence, any peaceful Alien
culture may be very reluctant to make physical contact with Us.

Re 3.: I do so, because it is my firm belief, that in order for the Human Race
to susvive, We are forced to aquire some form of space travel, since the
Earth's meagre ressources simply can't support Us indefinitely, so the
need to exploit the ressources of the other planets in our Solar System
seems obvious to me. in doingg so, I think, the likelyhood arises, that
We may encounter other Space-Faring spcies, so to avoid being wiped out,
We need to establish some sort of communication before any physical
encounter can take place.

I know this all may sound very gloomy, but We have to be realistic; We are what We are.
