I've been interested in Astronomy since probably the 7th grade. There is just something about watching the stars. I also enjoy computers very much. I guess they go together pretty well. With the advent of distributed computing it really gives the 'ay person the opportunity the chance to contribute possibly to the "big find" hopefully.
When not surfing the internet I enjoy watching NASCAR racing very much and am a long time Green Bay packers fan. Mix that in with some outdoor exploring and amateur photography that about sums things up.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that life out there could exist and to not search for it would be remiss on our part.
I run SETI because I think it's a worthwhile project. It is something that is unobtrusive and gives everyone the ability to contribute to some kind of scientific exploration. To many I think the discussion of gaussians, triplets and pulses would have never existed without the SETI project.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
