| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

| Seti is cool. I really hope we can contact other life in our tiny pocket of th universe. I have no doubt that there are others out there. I jsut hope they are more inteligent than some of the life here on earth. :-)i think if we were to trasmit a beacon (and i say do it if you have the resources) that it should be star charts, language charts, and then allow access to cultural information based on some sort of passowrd that would rely on deciphering the language. this would be so they dont get freaked and some and kill us. That would suck. I run seti@home in hopes that i'll find something and get to be on tv :-), to showcase the fact that my pc is a slow pos, and simply b/c its something i can do to help that doesn;t take away performance. Hurrah for 288 megs of ram. Too bad my cpu sucks though. Anyhoo, hurrah for Seti, hurrah for global computing projects like this one, and hurrah for getting me a better comp. |
