Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I became interested in SETI@home the first time I read about it on Internet. I hadn't a computer at home, but I thought to run the software on my office pc. I abandoned this idea while I discovered, bad surprise, there was no way to go through the company firewall and to contact the distribution server!!
I came back on my steps when the SETI people released a new client, with HTTP support. I began to use the "classic" flavour but I removed it from the pc some days later because it was too slow. Now I'm using the text version running as a service, and I added some more pc (actually 14 NT workstations and a Solaris machine) crunching green-men-data all the day long!

Did you see the film "Contact" ?...It's just about the SETI researches...I think it shows the same questions and possible answers that every participant to the SETI project keeps in mind...
