Profile: ICBear

Personal background
I am in my mid 40's, single (again). originally from the UK I now reside and work in New Zealand - a beautiful country well worth a visit. I live in a fairly isolated part of the North Island, in the city (36,000) of Gisborne which is renowned as the first city in the world to see the light of each new day.
No partner now, though hopeful of something one day. i am a registered nurse by profession and currently work as the Infection Control Advisor at the local District Health Board. I hope to finish my Masters in Nursing next year.
I have been in New Zealand for just over 2 years now, previously I was woking in Saudi Arabia as a nurse manager.
i love simulation games, reading (a lot), DVD's movies in general, travel rather than vacationing, classical music as well as smooth music. I like the theatre but here it is very difficult to see any except amatuer. I also love eating out (guess that is why I have a little weight problem, but not too much), especially like Chinese and French. If there is anything more you would like to know about me I can be reached on my E mail at Tony_the_Bear@xtra.co.nz
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Well, this is quite a difficult one to really answer. I cannot believe that we are the only planet in the universe with life on it - that is too simplistic. I am hopeful that we will be 'discovered', and I certainly cannot believe in the Independence Day scenario - why travel to other planets to destroy?
I certainly believe we should transmit as often as we can. it should be a guide to life here - in all its varieties.
I run the program because it could be of benefit to all in the world.
