I live in Northeast Ohio, and I'm employed at a service bureau (graphics) as a prepress specialist and systems/network administrator.
I've been playing around with SETI for a few years now I've done a few work units every now and then, but never stuck with it until recently.
...being sys/network admin at a small graphics shop gives me access to some pretty decent computing power (for a small company)...so I decided our servers and workstations could be working for SETI in their idle time. I'm using a Sun E-250 server (and a few other *x servers), plus a few Macs ( 604e, G3, G4) & win2k (P4) workstations.
I'm using 5-7 machines, with the average machine speed at about 560mhz (the Sun box being the only 64bit).
I'm hoping to add about 6 more intel boxes (prolly 4 freebsd and 2 win2k) in the near future, with single and dual 933mhz configs. That should up my work units per day a tad :-) |
