Of course it exists! Why should we be the only intelligent (or quite) life being in the universe or even in the galaxy...
When? Well, maybe they've already discovered us....
Benefits: technology first, opportunity to start the space exploration, cultural revolution, solution to some of our problems
Dangers: domination by a technologically (or just phisical) superior race. Our story teaches that humans tends toward war, it could happen to other beings too

Oh yes! Well, we already have sent the Pioneer, isn't it?
What to send...that's a good question..both scientific and cultural informations, like the data on the Pioneer, something to let other understand that we are enough civilized (is it true?).
