Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The existence of ET Life seems almost a certainty. Whether we will ever detect it is a very big question that depends on so many variables that I cannot begin to predict. I am happy to add my PC time to the effort though! Lots of people are looking for ET here on earth and claim to have encounters. From what I know about the size of the universe and the speed of light as a universal speed limit, I find it hard to believe that we have been visited by ET. Any signals we may detect on SETI@Home stand a good chance of having emanated from a society that has probably gone extinct in the time it took their signals to get here. Even so, the detection even of life that used to be there would be an amazing experience. Count me in on the search!
