Personal background
i am a SWM and live in Florida between Daytona Beach and Orlando. Im a lifelong devotee of astronomy and do my fair share of stargazing. I work as an IT Network Technician for an international comapny. My hobbies are stargazing, photography, drum and bugle corps (cadets of bergen county and the connecticut hurricanes are my favorites). My all time favorite musical group is David Clayton-Thomas and Blood, Sweat & Tears. Otherwise i really enjoy jazz and big band music. My religious affiliation is with The Baha'i Faith. When Im not working or sleeping, you can find me on the beach or glued to my PC.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As I stated above, astronomy has always been my passion. The SETI@home project gives me great satisfaction in feeling that I now am really contributing to the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. I believe that running SETI@home at home brings us just a little closer to contacting other lifeforms in the universe. In fact, when i first read carl sagan;s book, Contact, i was certain that i would someday be the person who helps in finding the signals. arguing about the benefits and dangers of contacting life outside of our solar system pales in comparison to finding other civilizations. we should continue sending messages and looking for answers. as for what information to send, anything but rap music or country western music.... :)
