I like to think I've travelled extensively, but really, I've only managed to visit a portion of this globe. In the grand scheme of things, that's nothing: I haven't even left the planet yet.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

Why do I run SETI@Home? Good question.
It's more fun than RC5? I enjoy processor racing with friends and coworkers?

Nah, I really just think it's a good use of otherwise wasted processor cycles. While it's nearly infinitely probable that there are other cultures in the universe at or above our level, I'm still not sure we'll get the signal, and if bureaucracy is as bad on their planets as it is on ours, I'm not sure they're even sending...

Despite what I just wrote, I really do hope to help in finding that one signal among the noise that leads to eventual communication with our galactic neighbors.
