Personal background
Hello, my name is Bryan Bickel. I'm a 26 year old computer programmer/system administrator from Detroit. I work for a company called i33 and have started a seti group under the same name. I run SETI on a g4/350 and g4/450 running OSX, PIII/733 running Red Hat. I have many interests surrounding music, movies, and computers. I listen to all types of music including Jesus and Mary chain, Depeche Mode, Skinny Puppy, Human league, etc. I've been composing my own electronic music for the past 9 years and have done a few soundtracks for local student films and university recruitment presentations.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I've always been involved in science and technology. I was first drawn to SETI because of an interest in distributed computing. I'm excited to be involved in something that may one day help decode an alien transmission. I think we'll find extraterrestrial life in the next 20 years. It won't be entities with big heads and hollow eyes. Instead it will be some sort of bacteria or virus. Let's just hope it doesn't wipe out the population of earth.
