Personal background
I'm a 39 year old
divorced father of 3. My two sons live with me while my daughter lives with
her Mom, but I see her very often. They are the primary focus of my life and
I enjoy doing things with them most of the time. However, for myself I like
riding my Motorcycle, watching movies both at the theater and home, messing
around on my computer, listening to music, and reading magazines ( Popular
Science, Popular Mechanics, Discovery, Maxim....). I also like doing things
outside and going to the gym.

I live in a small condominium near Baltimore, Maryland with my two sons
and a Roommate Mickey. He to is divorced and has a son that lives with his
Ex. We have 5 Desktop computers and 3 Laptops on our home network. We have
one in the garage to remap the computer on my motorcycle and play music or TV.

I've worked on and around computers doing various things for about 23
years. I've gone from computer operator to programmer to computer networks and
now computer security. I am currently working on getting some more
Certifications.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Does ET exist? That
is a great question. I tend to agree with the logic that says there are too many
places that may contain intelligent life for there not to be some out there. As
to whether humans will stick around long enough to find it is another issue. The
vast distances separating objects in the universe mean that it may be difficult
to "find" other life unless they are screaming and shouting to be found.
They could be playing it safe and trying not to be found. That brings me to the
question of whether or not WE should be "shouting" to the universe in
order to attempt to make contact. I certainly think we should be. The potential
benefits are worth the risk that we may encounter some hostile species. I run
SETI@home because of the possibility that we might find something. I think the
idea of using my spare CPU cycles for something useful makes a lot of sense, and
it's just fun. Now I just have to try to catch my roommates in work units completed.
