Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have no doubt in my mind that we are NOT alone in our existence. There is definitely life out there...somewhere. Thought provokes it, numbers promote it, and persistence will affirm it. As humans we seem to possess this unrealistic depiction of ourselves as being special...at the top (even in religion we presume that god is all about us). It's the Sun revolves around the Earth syndrome. Our complacency eclipses even histories teachings and life's observations. This spec of dust that we reside on is ever decreasing in its capacity to support us. Space exploration (not just ET hunting) should be a governmental priority.

However, the potential of finding ET's is gloomy at best. Our technology is still a far cry from what it will take to cover the vast distances and needs of such an endeavor. It will probably be the ET's finding us (with/without our help)...if they haven't already ;-). Hell, we could BE ET's! The implications of discovering ET's will probably be enormously beneficial. It's my belief that as higher order thought develops, appreciation for life increases. Though at first glance one would assume this incorrect based on the observance of human behavioral interaction with other species...but when looking at it more closely, it's evident that as we have evolved, we have gained more appreciation for the life about us (or at least what it can provide for us).
