I’m an Australian, male, in my early 40's, and a mining engineer.
Currently I'm working at a gold mine in one of the desert regions of Australia. While I'm looking for ways to reach into the depths of the earth to get out more gold, at the same time my computer is focusing in the other direction, looking for ET and associated siblings.
While on site my work computer constantly crunches the SETI data, so far there have been no revelations. During my R & R periods I reacquaint myself with civilisation by spending time on the coast.

Whether or not we are the only intelligent life in the universe is a debatable, however the search for ET is worthwhile.
