Profile: Mike Dickheiser

Personal background
Mike is an avid fan of science, space exploration, and mathematics. When not reading anything and everything about the world around him, he enjoys just about anything outdoors, and thinks Ultimate Frisbee is the only REAL sport.

Mike currently resides in Raleigh, NC with his wife Jaye and three cats. He's a veteran computer game programmer who hopes to eventually find the time to return to graduate school and pursue a PhD in computer science.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think intelligent extra-terrestrial life most likely exists, but I also think it's possible that it will be a VERY long time before we make contact of any kind.

Overall SETI@Home is a great project, especially considering how it demonstrates the utility of voluntary, large-scale distributed computing and sets an example that can be (and is) used in many other areas of research.
