On a clear summer night I look up to the sky and wonder is the intelligent life. . . or are they just like us!
I believe that there is intelligent life, it seems to me that there HAS to be given the size of the universe (see Clark equation). Should we send a beacon into space? We are, lets just hope Discovery channel makes it through before the History channel does (or worse the SCIFI channel).
I run SETI at home simply to be a part of what would be the greatest discovery of our race. The danger of a discovery of intelligent life would be the impact on organized religion, I can see the look on Pat's and Jerry's face!
If we eventually make contact (other than a trailer court) let's hope that the beings we met are what we aspire to be and not what we are. |
