Personal background
Hi all,

My name is Smurf, I'm a 30 year old male who lives in Sydney, Australia. I work in I.T for a large support company. I like surfing, Rollerblading, Skating, Night clubbing, Dance music and getting up to general mischief on the internet.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The reason i joined seti@home was because i'm very unsure of if extraterrestrial life exists but i wanted to be a part of the project to find extraterrestrial life if such a life form exsists. "I WANT TO BELIVE" With life these days being so uncertain maybe a life on another planet could be more enjoyable. I'm not sure how we will find intelligence out there but this seems to be a place that i can start to help. The way i figure there are no dangers to doing this ( I mean with all the freaks i.e Terrorists & Suicide Bombers running around on this planet, Get me the hell outer here ), Possible benefits of finding intelligence out there would be unbelivable ( Maybe a cure for cancer or A.I.D.S ) Who know's but if we dont look we will never know. About information to be sent, I'm not sure about this, This is a hard question, Any information sent out could possibly be taken in a bad way by any lifeform, So i'll leave this one up to the experts but i think we should deffinatly be sending something out there to let extraterrestrial intelligence know that we are here and we mean them no harm.

To sum up the SETI@HOME project, I think everyone with a computer should run this program, For if we don't look, We are not going to find............

Have fun people and I hope together as one, We find something out there
