Personal background
Hey guys and gals.
Im a kiwi (new zealander) living down under ( Australia ).
have been here for nigh on eleven years and if you must know, getting a bit old in the tooth at the right old age of 47.
hobbies. a little bit of this and a little bit of that. enough to keep the mind active.
Im a jack of all trades and a master of none and thats exactly how i like it.
Ive had a good grounding in life experience and can usually say been there and done that.
most unusual and satisfying job was as a marine animal trainer back when i was a young whipper snapper.
current job has me running a paper machine somewhere in australia.
have been doing this job for just on twenty three years now.
maybe im due for a change, but if i hold on a bit longer, then maybe i will retire instead and become a permanant seti watcher....lol

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
life else where in the universe....
of course there is.
if we in our humble beginnings can create life in a test tube, why not.
I think we may already have the evidence that life exists elsewhere, but we dont know how to interpret it.
when the time is right, like so often in life a key will be provided and all will fall into place.
ie the rosetta stone that deciphered the ancient languages.

should we transmit a beacon...
depends on how fast the powers that be want us to be found.
for better or worse, one day it is going to happen and maybe we should be prepared first, but also first, it might be a good idea to clean up our own back yards before any such visitors come calling. we as humans do not have a very good track record, and i dont know if i would drop in if given a hail..

why do i run seti....
nice to know that i am doing my bit, and imagine the thrill if it was your report that provided some kind of a find, so yes, would be nice to be here for the long haul. would be nice if i could do more,
