I went to Durham University in the UK between 1995 and 1998. I've been working as a computer programmer for British Airways since I left.
I'm married to Gillian who I met at University, she's a chartered accountant (and will hopefully make enough money for me to retire early). We live in the original Washington (where George's family came from) in the UK. It's near Newcastle and Sunderland in the North East.
We go out for meals and to the cinema alot. We also like musicals and go to as many as come to the local area.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Extraterrestrial life almost certainly exists but I personnaly doubt that we will discover it during my life time. That dosen't stop us trying though.
I'd be a lot happier about meeting aliens if we weren't all existing on a single planet so I'd wait for a bit of dispersal over different planets before setting up a beacon. It will also be more likely that we will notice communications from aliens races once we are forced develop new technologies for communication over much larger distances due to colonies on other planets.
SETI@Home is the currently most likely way that any discoveries of attempted communication will be discovered. As processing power in the average home and office PC increases the project should rapidly increase momentum.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
